[2010] EWCA Crim 838
The theft by a drug addict of a handbag containing a purse and house keys from a 63-year-old lady as she walked home from the bus stop around 5pm on a winter afternoon had sufficient aggravating features to justify a sentence in a higher bracket of the Sentencing Guidelines Council guidelines than was technically applicable on the facts. Sentencing guidelines were not to be treated as tram lines.
