The MoJ is holding a workshop on Friday 27 May to discuss the CLAIR proposals for police station reform.

Please see below for further details from the MoJ including how to book a place, and please circulate to your members.

I realise that we are all disappointed and angry at the manner in which the consultation has been conducted, but I think the more influence we can have on the final outcome the better.

Summary:
The Government’s response to the Criminal Legal Aid Independent Review (CLAIR) has now been published alongside a consultation. This webinar will provide you with an in-depth look at the police station proposals and to listen to your views.

About this event:
We are inviting Criminal legal aid Solicitors to join officials at a workshop to discuss proposals for police station reform.

On 15 March 2022, the government published their response to the Criminal Legal Aid Independent Report (CLAIR) alongside a consultation proposing changes to Criminal Legal Aid policy.

The CLAIR consultation is now open for responses and will close on 7 June 2022. This consultation is an opportunity for the sector to feedback on the proposals we have outlined in response to Sir Bellamy’s Independent Review, and feed into future work on Criminal legal aid reform.

Therefore, we would like to invite you to attend a discussion where officials will aim to provide an introduction to our police station proposals laid out in response to CLAIR and to listen to your views.

  • Date: Friday 27 May

  • Time: 16:00 – 17:00
