Where a person imported indecent photographs of children in the belief that he was importing prohibited material, it was sufficient for the prosecution to prove that the person knew he was importing indecent material. It was not necessary to prove in particular that the defendant knew that the indecenct material related to children under the age of 16. *Decision upheld by the House of Lords. See R v Forbes (2001) LTL 19/7/2001.
