The case of R v Bland (1987) was a decision on its particular facts and the court was not purporting to lay down general rules with regard to possession or joint enterprise to possess unlawful drugs nor to the evidence which would be sufficient to enable a jury to draw inferences. It was wrong to try to elevate the case into a statement of principle.
