ATTORNEY-GENERAL'S REFERENCE (NO.87 OF 2005) sub nom R v DWAINE DANIEL JAMES (2006)

A sentence of nine years' imprisonment for an offence of knowingly being concerned in the importation of 73.9 kg of cocaine at 100 per cent purity might have been lenient but, in circumstances where the defendant had played a very small part in the movement of the drugs and had provided information that could have led officials to the person in charge of the conspiracy, the sentence was not unduly lenient.
