ATTORNEY-GENERAL'S REFERENCE (NO.176 OF 2000) SUB NOM R V THOMAS DOWNLY (2000)

PUBLISHED May 8, 2000

Whilst the trial judge was very experienced and had heard all of the evidence for himself, the sentence of 30 months' imprisonment for two offences of assault with intent to commit robbery was in all of the circumstances unduly lenient, and accordingly was quashed and substituted with a term of four-and-a-half years' imprisonment.
