There was no truth in allegations made by parents convicted of wounding and wilfully neglecting their 18-month-old daughter that they had received an unfair trial on the basis of of the judge being bias. Criminal trials involved an adversarial process that required counsel to withstand robust comments and continue to firmly and fiercely represent their lay clients.
