A conviction for witness intimidation was unsafe where a jury had been incorrectly informed that the complainant was of previous good character. The case had essentially been a contest of credibility between the defendant and complainant. Evidence of the defendant's previous convictions had been adduced, and the unfavourable contrast in terms of character had clearly been important to that issue.
