Scotland's rank and file police officers are set to ask Scottish Executive ministers to increase their legal protection.

A motion put before the Police Federation conference in Peebles says assaults on officers should not be seen as a "hazard" of the job.
It is currently estimated that more than 8,000 assaults on police officers are committed each year.
The figure is also rising and is up 20% on statistics for the past two years.
