A public inquiry into the murder of an Asian youth by his white racist cellmate is to probe claims that prison officers set up Gladiator-style fights.

Zahid Mubarek, 19, was killed in March 2000 at Feltham Young Offenders' Institution by Robert Stewart, 24.
An inquiry spokesman said the claims - that prison officers put bets on fights between black and white inmates - were so serious they must be investigated.
