West End of London niche practice Barker Gillette will merge with Loughton, Essex firm Lucas McMullan Jacobs on 1 November.

The combined firm, to be called Barker Gillette LLP incorporating Lucas McMullan Jacobs, will have 18 solicitors and be based at Barker's Wigmore Place office.

Established in 1981, Barker Gillette is a niche commercial and business crime practice with 10 partners and four additional solicitors. Lucas McMullan Jacobs, which has three partners and one solicitor, lists its specialisms as family, litigation, employment and property.  

Michael Davies (pictured), senior partner at Barker Gillette, said: 'The combined experience and expertise of the merged practice will be significantly enhanced and we are all looking forward to focusing our energy and resources on achieving growth as well as increasing our high level of service for both our business and personal clientele.'

The firms declined to reveal their income.
