At 11.30am on April 26 1999, the television presenter Jill Dando was shot dead. The 37-year-old was killed by a single bullet fired at her head as she reached the front door of her house in Fulham, west London. She left behind a burgeoning career, presenting Crimewatch and Holiday, and a fiancé, whom she was due to marry five months later.
