Two prisoners charged with murder of fellow inmate who raped girl of 13

Men aged 32 and 23 will appear in court over death of Mitchell Harrison, 23, who was found dead in a cell on Saturday Two prisoners have been charged with the murder of a fellow inmate who was serving a jail term for the rape of a 13-year-old girl. Two men, aged 32 and 23, will appear before magistrates on Monday 3 October charged with the murder of Mitchell Harrison, 23, who was found dead in a cell at HM Prison Frankland, County Durham, on Saturday. A postmortem examination found that the prisoner, who is originally from Wolverhampton, had died from multiple injuries. Harrison was given an indeterminate sentence at Carlisle crown court in January last year after being convicted of rape. He was sentenced to at least four and a half years in jail and was put on the sex offenders' register for life. The attack on the girl happened at a property in Kendal, Cumbria, in August 2009. HMP Frankland is a Category A institution housing more than 800 prisoners, including some of the most serious offenders in the prison system.
