Tory rebels should avoid war over European Arrest Warrant

A great many misconceptions surround the European Arrest Warrant. To begin with, while its introduction was accelerated by the 9/11 terror attacks, it was a not solely a response to them. The EAW emerged as part of a package of judicial mutual-recognition measures agreed at the Tampere summit in 1999 by leaders concerned that dismantling internal borders would make it easy for criminals to move from one jurisdiction to another.
