General and exemplary damages totalling £38,750 were appropriate in a case in which householders had embarked on a deliberate and vicious campaign of harassment against their neighbour. The harassment, which was designed to prevent the 67-year-old victim from using a right of way, went on for some three years and involved an assault as well as attempts to have the victim arrested or sectioned under the Mental Health Act 1983.
