A sentence of 15 months' imprisonment imposed following a late guilty plea to false accounting arising from benefits fraud over a four-year period was fully justified where the offender had been motivated solely by greed and had tendered his plea in the face of an inevitable conviction, showing a complete lack of remorse and refusing to acknowledge his criminality.
