[2007] EWCA Crim 979

Where an offender was liable to a required minimum sentence by virtue of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 s.110 or s.111, and the judge considered that the appropriate starting point for sentence after a trial was greater than the required minimum sentence, the judge was entitled to allow a full discount for a guilty plea from that starting point so long as the eventual sentence imposed was not less than 80 per cent of the relevant required minimum sentence.
