R v ROBERT ANDREW BEACH (2013)

A sentence of six years' imprisonment for causing death by careless driving when unfit through drugs following a trial was excessive and was replaced with one of five years' where the driver had not been given credit for an initial plea of guilty to the lesser offence of causing death by careless driving. Although he had lied about taking drugs he had accepted from the outset that he had been responsible for the death.
