[2012] EWCA Crim 1628
A starting point of 30 months' imprisonment for an offence of robbery from a bookmakers was not manifestly excessive despite the minimal force used, lack of injury caused, no use of weapons or disguises and the fact that a relatively small sum was taken. Given the aggravating features, which included the psychological effect on the cashier, the offender's appalling criminal record and the fact that he was subject to a suspended sentence when the offence was committed, a substantial increase in the starting point indicated in the sentencing guidelines was justified.
