A sentence of eight and a half years imprisonment for a series of offences comprising conspiracy to convert criminal property, a Consumer Credit Act licensing offence, conspiracy to handle stolen goods, conspiracy to defraud, perversion of the course of justice, violent disorder and breach of a conditional discharge was excessive, when measured against the principle of totality and in light of the offender's excellent behaviour whilst in prison.
