Sentences of imprisonment for public protection after convictions for robberies involving firearms were quashed and replaced by determinate sentences where the trial judge had concluded that the participation in those robberies had justified the public protection sentence, but where he had failed to make any assessment of the risk to members of the public of serious harm by the commission of further specified offences under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 s.229.
