The growing complexity of a multi-handed drugs conspiracy trial, and the imminence of the Christmas period, meant that there was good and sufficient cause for a small extension of a defendant's custody time limit from November to a trial in January. The court stated that it was imperative that there be continuity of advocacy for the prosecution in relation to an application for extension of a custody time limit, or a full enquiry made of previous counsel.
