McConnell pledge in arrest warrants row

The scandal of more than 5000 alleged criminals walking around Strathclyde because police have not enforced arrest warrants is being tackled, First Minister Jack McConnell has said.

After the Evening Times revealed there were 5327 outstanding arrest warrants, Mr McConnell said measures being introduced by the Scottish Executive would deal with the problem.
