Killer drivers face tougher charges

Prosecutors are to be encouraged to bring more manslaughter cases against motorists who cause death, under proposals to be published by the Home Office today.

A review of road traffic offences will suggest tougher action against drivers causing death by careless driving or when they are uninsured or unlicensed. It will also seek to increase penalties where serious injury is caused.
