A two-year conditional discharge for an offence of kidnapping and having a bladed or sharply-pointed article in a public place was not unduly lenient with regard to the need for leniency in the circumstances of the case. However, a crime committed in a domestic environment was no less serious than any other crime and should be approached as a crime.
