The court upheld a conviction for a number of sexual offences, finding no fatal error in the way that the judge had dealt with the evidence or in his directions to the jury. Although it might have been better for him not to have made observations about the likelihood of a competent solicitor advising a client to remain silent in a police interview, his observations had not impugned the fairness of the trial.
