An appeal against conviction for one count of cheating the public revenue and two counts of false accounting was dismissed as the judge had correctly admitted, under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 s.101, evidence of previous Revenue enquiries into the tax affairs of the offender as evidence of his bad character and dishonesty. In the light of such bad character evidence, the judge had not erred in giving the offender a bad character direction despite the fact he only had one previous conviction.
