A sentence of two-and-a-half years' imprisonment was appropriate where an offender, who had provided a false alibi for a suspect ultimately convicted of manslaughter, had persisted in the lie before eventually pleading guilty, but his attempt to pervert the course of justice had been unsuccessful.
