A judge had not been wrong to direct a jury that a Jamaican national carrying a false passport had no defence under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 s.31 to a charge of possession of a false identity document. There had been nothing to support his argument that, as a Jamaican who had returned to Jamaica from the United Kingdom, he was a member of a particular social group under the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees 1951 (United Nations) art.1A.
