The appropriate sentence for an offence of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception involving the use of another individual's passport to gain employment was one of nine months' imprisonment where, although the offender had not used the passport to gain entry into the United Kingdom, his use of the passport had caused its true holder, an innocent person, to have his status to remain in the UK put in doubt.
