[2011] EWCA Crim 734
Where neither limb of a good character direction had been an explicit or unequivocal direction to the jury that they were to take good character into account for the purposes of credibility and propensity the direction was defective and a conviction for common assault was quashed. The judge should have borne in mind the matters identified in R. v Moustakim (Malika Haddad) [2008] EWCA Crim 3096 when making the direction.
