There was great public interest in deterring parents from abducting their children from the care of the state, particularly where the court had made arrangements for the children's care. In a case in which a mother had wrongfully removed her children from the care of the Swedish authorities and brought them to the United Kingdom, the children's rights under the European Convention on Human Rights 1950 art.8 did not trump either the public interest or the UK's international obligations.
