[2009] EWCA Crim 235
Sentences of 12 and 9 years' imprisonment for conspiracy to rob imposed on two offenders for their involvement in nine robberies of jewellers were increased to 16 and 12 years respectively, as their offending had been at the upper end of the scale and there was no reason not to follow R. v Turner (Bryan James) (1975) 61 Cr. App. R. 67. A third offender's sentence, of seven years' imprisonment for robbery and possession of an imitation firearm, was not increased as he had been involved in only one robbery and had played a lesser role, and a greater distinction between him and the other offenders was necessary.
