[2013] EWCA Crim 1054
The Criminal Appeal Act 1968 s.3A, which gave the Court of Appeal the power to substitute a plea of guilty to one offence for a plea of guilty to another, had to be construed strictly. Its operation was confined to cases in which the guilty plea originally tendered inevitably involved an admission to the offence sought to be substituted.
