Woolwich Crown Court and Secure Email

HMCTS has confirmed that whilst Woolwich Crown Court is implementing new procedures around bail applications and the processing of them so that its preference is for such applications to be made by secure email ("CJSM"), the letter which the court sent to the CPS and defence encouraging use of this method of service was intended to be read as "encouragement" to use the CJSM service, not a mandatory requirement.

Any members of the LCCSA who encounter a purported "requirement" to serve applications and notices, etc. by CJSM, are welcome to raise the issue with the current President, Jim Meyer (MeyerJ@TuckersSolicitors.com), who will take up the matter.
