Putting advocates on trial was always bound to be controversial. There have been rumblings among judges for some time about the proposed system of grading advocates - but this week one of the country?s most senior judges broke cover with a blistering attack on plans for the new quality-assurance scheme that will judge advocates on their performance in court.
