A sentence of 13 years' imprisonment imposed on an offender who suffered from Asperger's syndrome was reduced to 12 years' imprisonment because, although there was no medical evidence that he did not fully appreciate the effect that his behaviour would have on others, there was some evidence that life in custody would be more difficult for him than a prisoner who did not suffer from the condition.
