A local authority had power to manage land in its ownership as a nature reserve under s.111 Local Government Act 1972, and was entitled under s.120(1)(b) of that Act to refuse to renew shooting rights over that land on the grounds that such refusal was for the benefit, improvement or development of its area. Erroneous advice as to reg.48 Conservation (Natural Habitats, etc) Regulations 1994 had played no part in the decision.
