In a case involving allegations of conspiracy to supply cocaine, a jury direction which stated that the conspiracy could consist of any one of the named defendants plus a person unknown resulted in the quashing of an appellant's conviction on the ground that that direction allowed the possibility that he and his co-accused had been convicted of the offence indicted without the jury necessarily being sure that each was guilty of the same conspiracy.
