The appellant's conviction for murder was safe despite counsel for the prosecution introducing prejudicial and incorrect information during his cross-examination of the appellant. The trial judge had given suitable directions in respect of that issue and in relation to the evidence of a hostile prosecution witness who had told the police under caution that the appellant had murdered but who in oral evidence stated that the appellant was not at the scene of the murder.
