A total sentence of six years' imprisonment, comprising three-and-a-half years for attempted robbery and two-and-a-half years for two non-residential burglaries, was manifestly excessive, notwithstanding the offender's substantial record for similar offences and the fact that the offences were committed soon after his release on licence.
