In the case of burglaries of commercial premises, the wrong signal would be sent out if defendants could claim that their burglary fell into a less serious category, because the amount stolen, although objectively of substantial value and certainly such as to entice those with criminal dispositions, happened not to be relatively large for the affluent trader or substantial enterprise that they had targeted.
