[2012] EWCA Crim 2167

A sentence of 12 months' imprisonment for the theft of lead from the roof of a house at night was appropriate. While the offence was not directly comparable with a burglary, it could be equally distressing for the householder, especially where he woke up in the night to find the theft in progress.
