[2001] EWCA Crim 990

A sentence of 18 month's imprisonment for deliberate and deplorable acts of cruelty to a child were substituted with an 18-month sentence suspended for two years, in order that best interests of the children, which the responsible authority considered would be served by re-uniting the family, could be pursued.
