[2012] EWCA Crim 2709
Sentences of two months' imprisonment imposed on two offenders following their late guilty pleas to charges of aggravated vehicle-taking had been manifestly excessive and wrong in principle as the judge had given them the impression that they were being imprisoned because they had been uncooperative, or had lacked the means to make compensation, or because they had lacked genuine remorse. None of those factors justified the sentences imposed.
