Life sentences included sentences of imprisonment for public protection and so the test to be applied by the Parole Board when considering, under the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 s.28(6), the release on licence of a prisoner serving a sentence of imprisonment for public protection would be the same whether the prisoner was subject either to a sentence for public protection or to a life sentence, though in practice different considerations would bear on the application of that test.
