Middle classes targeted as tax evasion prosecutions double
PUBLISHED August 5, 2013A total of 617 people were prosecuted in the financial year 2012-13, up from 302 the previous year, with more white-collar businessmen and women and landlords being hit. As part of the 2010 Spending Review, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) was given an extra £1 billion to tackle tax avoidance.
