A sentence of two weeks' imprisonment for a civil contempt of court that had been imposed to run consecutively to a term of 12 months' imprisonment for a number of criminal offences, was considered excessive where as a result of the rules on prisoners' early release, its effect was to increase the appellant's total term of imprisonment by two months.
