Ian McEwan’s literary judgment shows us human side of the law
PUBLISHED September 19, 2014There are surprisingly few distinguished novels about judges and judging. Ian McEwan’s The Children Act (Jonathan Cape) is a very welcome addition to that class. It is a literary judgment that tells us more about the legal system and those who administer it than The Weekly Law Reports and a shelf of textbooks.
