Human Rights Campaigners Branded Childish

PUBLISHED June 13, 2005

Britain's human rights campaigners were branded childish today by Andrew Puddephat, former general secretary of Liberty.

The emphasis was too strongly on opposing Government plans which often aimed to protect the most vulnerable, he suggested.
That was paving the way for a Tory administration to abolish the Human Rights Act, a "catastrophe" that would take the pressure off repressive regimes, he said.
